Dark Zincite crystals of anthropogenic origin - formed after processing Franklin/Sterling Hill zinc ore. Fluorescent yellow-green under both LW and SW UV.
unique to Palmerton, this specimen was collected about 1986 - today access and collecting are not permitted - the locality is a Superfund site

To show the fluorescent response the specimen was illuminated using 6 watt 254nm (Short Wave) / 366nm (Long Wave) UVGL-58 lamp (you need a proper UV light source to observe the fluorescence, more powerful lamp = brighter response).
