fluorescent WILLEMITE with ZINCITE and FRANKLINITE - Sterling Mine, Sussex Co., New Jersey, USA

Green LW SW fluorescent and SW phosphorescent Willemite, microcrystalline orange Zincite, black Franklinite, in white Calcite.

There is a patch of dark blue SW fluorescing Hydrozincite (white surface coating in daylight), it may be hard to see because of the overwhelming Willemite glow.

If you look along the boundary of the Willemite “cap” with a lens you will find some small, flat laying Willemite crystals.

To show the fluorescent response the specimen was illuminated using 6 watt 254nm (Short Wave) / 366nm (Long Wave) UVGL-58 lamp (you need a proper UV light source to observe the fluorescence, more powerful lamp = brighter response).
